The Definition of Privacy

Published by christopherkusek at 2:08 am under Information, internet, twitter Edit This

Ever notice how ‘active’ people who use Twitter, Facebook and other venues of communication may be?   However the veil of seclusion is often misunderstood for any sense of security.

It’s been reported in a number of businesses where potential or actual employees of businesses are found out to not be doing what is expected of them.  Such as the case of the employee calling in sick, while contradicting their state on their Facebook page.

Users of Twitter where it is linked up with Facebook will often be out and about, and their status is not only alerted for their fellow followers to see, but also all of their ‘friends’ and colleagues on Facebook to find.

At times, this level of ‘activity’ may be perceived as a non-productive worker “Spending all day on the internet”, however that is often farthest from the Truth as how well someone multi-tasks and is able to communicate on a number of scales can hardly be predicted by their online behaviors.

The morale of the lesson though is to remain consistent with your behavior.   Honesty is easiest to remember, and always easier to get accounted for, even if you are Active.

Like the story of Email - Assume all of your emails, Tweets, Facebook status and more is read by everyone.   Privacy isn’t yours to decide, Just ask any major celebrity.
